Screening

Prepare to be asked questions about previous pet ownership, your current pets, and your current family situation. If I speak to you on the phone I will probably ask you those questions to make sure my babies have a good home and are well loved. If you respond by E-mail I will ask you to fill out my questionnaire (If you have an AOL address, or a web-based email system, email us first as the questionnaire will not work for you. We will need to send you one as an attachment.) if you haven't already done so. (We'd really prefer to meet or at least speak with you on the phone, and would love to have you stop by and see us at a show hall one day!) We do care where our babies go!!!!

We try to match kitten personalities to their new families the best we can so it is important for you to answer those questions for us. We also want you to ask us questions to make sure you want to work with us. We like to maintain contact with our "extended families" and hope to be a resource for our kitten buyers for years to come.

We require you to sign a contract which states the cat will not be allowed to roam outdoors or be declawed.

We don't offer breeding animals except to those selective people who have shown dedication to the breed. I take this hobby very seriously. Breeding cats will only be sold to select people who have shown a Mau in Premiership or are currently breedings Maus. Even if you have bred another breed I will still ask you to show in Premiership first. Showing a Mau can be a challenge due to their extreme intelligence. Quite often people have shown their dedication by buying a Premiership cat and showing it until it grands or for an entire season, or they will show one of my kids for me at a show I can not make. That way they are: learning about the breed, understanding the breed standard, learning responsible practices in working with pedigreed cats, and getting to know others that work with the breed. I suggest working closely with a mentor! This often opens doors to getting good quality animals early on. There are no shortcuts to establishing a good breeding program!

Some people express an interest in showing cats and learning a new hobby. Showing an alter can be very rewarding. Often you meet people you generally would never run into in your neighborhood or at work. Often a premiership cat is altered simply because that sex is not needed for the program at the moment. Show alters are not a dime a dozen and are well worth the wait if you indeed want to show. I am excited to get new people into the fancy and to exhibit the still somewhat rare bronze. I am willing to mentor and educate newbies.

All kittens and cat buyers are required to sign a sales contract. We have a copy of our contract here for you to view. A deposit will hold your kitten for you. We will of course provide a written copy of this contract a few weeks from receiving your kitten or upon pick up. We require a $350 non-refundable deposit for any reservation or holding of a kitten. It is not our fault if you change your mind and someone else may have been turned down because of your deposit. Your deposit will be refunded upon our discretion. We will not reserve a kitten or put you on our waiting list without a deposit!

 **Showing cats is a priority for us, and as it is often difficult to determine a kitten's "show prospects", we reserve the right to make a final decision on kittens up to the point of sale. Their color and spotting clarity change dramatically as they age. Also, to make matters more trying, as kittens, these cats go through at least three periods of "fuzziness" (basically coat growth) where their coats actually "fuzz" out and they become very pale. We have, however, yet to see a kitten that hasn't improved substantially as they aged, please understand this.

Mauraj practices early spay and neuter on all kittens to pet homes. We will not sell a kitten before 12 weeks of age. This is advised by CFA and just good common sense! Kittens can be picked up after 12-14 weeks. Kittens are altered when they are large enough. Some kittens grow faster and wean easier than others. Our kittens leave FULLY vaccinated. All kittens going to pet homes are altered NO EXCEPTIONS!

Kitten Pick- Up

New owners will need to make arrangements to pick up their kittens. Due to work and show schedules we can not transport new babies to owners on a regular basis. However, on certain occasions we can make exceptions (If we are going to a show we can meet there, etc.)
