WARM BRONZE

The warm bronze is the ultimate goal in a color breeding bronze program. It is NOT at all the result of placing Bengals in the program as some uneducated breeders and judges may believe. The amount of warmth doesn't determine if it is correct or incorrect in regards to the breed standard. Generally the moderate to warm bronze will take the ribbons over a cold bronze as it more appropriately fits the breed standard as written by CFA. The correctness is meerly an opinion of the breeder. Those breeders who color breed will attain more distinct rufous coloring. All warm bronzes have a large percentage of rufous polygenes in their genetic makeup. To get the stong rufous polygenes, one must breed the warmest bronze they have to another warm bronze. Often times this is done by line-breeding in order to set a color trait. After that trait is set, the breeder then moves to a genetically unrealated cat to breed to. Take a look at these pedigrees and compare them to the cold bronze pedigrees. The warm bronze is highly cherished and closely protected by those breeders who work with them simply because it takes hard work and many years to get, not because they are hiding secrets.

The warm bronze coat color is sandy brown in color to a rich rusty orange color. Spots can be dark brown to black. Below are pictures of the various hues of "warm bronzes".
